Are there any attorneys out there who would be interested in an appeal for a 1981 case?
I was advised in 1981 to plead guilty to a crime I did not commit due to the prejudices against Vietnam veterans and single males at that time. I wish to withdraw the guilty plea and make an attempt to appeal. I was sentenced to 2 years probation. Any advise on how to do this and to contact an atorney who would be interested in this case would be greatly appreciated.

- I think your statute of limitations may have run out. All you got was probation and its over, move on.
- Your time to appeal has long run out. Not to mention, you plead guilty. There are no appeals to a voluntary guilty plea absent some sort of ineffective assistance of counsel claims, claims of coercion, etc. Even if your time to appeal had not yet run, the evidence is now 25 years stale. There is no way to revisit this. My lord, why would you even consider this? Why do you need to get rid of a conviction from 25 years ago? If there are practical reasons such as an inability to gain employment as a result of the conviction (which I highly doubt given the age of the conviction) then you might be able to move the court to expunge it from your record. For this, you will need an attorney. Expect to pay anywhere between $200 and $400 per hour. You're probably looking at a $5,000 retainer depending on where you live.
